He is thanked for his support for the production of "Tam-Tams du Congo," a documentary directed by Albert Mongita from 1963 (on a title card at the beginning of the film, available at: https://archive.org/details/306-3441-r-2-tam-tams-reel-2/306-3441-r1+Tam+Tams+Reel+1.mp4)Cgraycinemahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16722174157867974349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042101873369162734.post-43550349434905447282024-01-15T05:42:39.180+01:002024-01-15T05:42:39.180+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.Cgraycinemahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16722174157867974349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042101873369162734.post-15087757151366654632020-11-14T18:07:12.503+01:002020-11-14T18:07:12.503+01:00I just read the very interesting and informative p...I just read the very interesting and informative piece on Pepsi, Maurice Alhadeff, and the arts. In 1968, when my wife and I lived in Kinshasa, we purchased several paintings by Samba Phillipe. Three we got at the Union Mission House, one in a gallery downtown. From what I was told, Samba's works were displayed in the Congo exhibit at the Montreal World's Fair in 9167, On one occasion, we visited Samba in his house and studio. What I most remember is that in addition to his paintings, he also had a piano. I have since tried to find more information about him but can find nothing. I'm quite sure he is from Bas Congo but I'm don't think there is any connection to Cheri Samba.

I would welcome any information. johnyoder@whitworth.eduJohn Yoderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10957467345320902663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042101873369162734.post-70211982533265766472018-03-29T02:52:00.174+01:002018-03-29T02:52:00.174+01:00Mwana Mboka, Thanks for this blog!! By 1972 I only remember the student store selling Coca Cola, but my memory could be faulty.bfhendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08346405979512004758noreply@blogger.com
